Nafplion

At a distance of 140 kilometers from Athens, Nafplion is one of the oldest cities in Greece, with archaeological finds showing its existence since the Mycenaean years. It was the first capital of independent Greece after the Revolution of 1821 and was the political, economic and cultural center of the country.

It is known for its beautiful architecture, with many well-preserved mansions, Venetian and neoclassical buildings. The historic city center is picturesque, with narrow and cobbled streets, squares, mansions and a strong Venetian and neoclassical influence. One can see important sights such as Palamidi, Palamidi Castle, Bourtzi, Akronafplia, the Archaeological Museum of Nafplion. Nearby beaches are Arvanitia beach, Karathona, Tolo.
